Astarta aims to further develop its dairy business

3 October 2016

According to recent information, Astarta Holding plans to increase number of its milking cows from 15.6k heads up to at least 20k heads till Y2020. Amid general stagnation of raw milk production in Ukraine and information about planned decrease of cow heads number by some other agri-holdings like IMC or HarvEast, Astarta’s view on perspectives of raw milk production is different. The company, which in 1H2016 reported EBITDA margin for its Dairy business segment of 45%, already increased raw milk production from 70k tons in Y2011 up to 103k tons in Y2015. And main factor of such increase has been growth of cows’ productivity (from annual average 4.9 tons per cow up to 6.6 tons during stated period of time):

In addition, dairy business provides important synergy to other segments, consuming part of Farming and Soybeans processing and Sugar segments production and supplying organic fertilizers to agri-operations.
