Today Arcelor Mittal Kryvyi Rih put into operation new pulverized coal injection system at blast furnace #9, which will allow the company to further decrease natural gas usage for its pig iron production. Amount of investments made USD 60M, it is expected that total natural gas usage of Arcelor Mittal Ukraine in Y20156 will make 660M cubic meters vs. 1bln in Y2015.
In general in January-August 2016 Ukrainian steel mills decreased usage of natural gas vs. corresponding period of previous year by 19%, while steel production grew by 9%, pig iron production – by 14%.
