According to Retail Community in Y2016 the largest Ukrainian food retail chain ATB-Market opened 112 new stores (plan in the beginning of the year was 100 new stores).
Closest competitor of ATB-Market on Ukrainian food retail market – Fozzy Group – opened 59 new stores, including 8 new Silpo stores, 21 new Fora stores (along with it 12 stores in Kharkiv region have been sold) and 30 Thrash stores (Thrash is new chain of food retail stores in format of discounter launched by Fozzy in Y2016).
In Y2015 total sales of both Ukrainian food retail market leaders was approximately the same at more than UAH 46bln (VAT incl.), we expect that in Y2016, due to more significant trade area growth, sales of ATB-Market will be slightly higher than Fozzy.
