Ukrainian crude steel and pipes output grows in January

2 February 2017

According to preliminary data of uaprom.info in January 2017 Ukrainian crude steel output made 2.1M tons, by 8.5% higher y-o-y and by 4.4% higher than in December 2016.

Monthly crude steel output grows for the third consecutive month, along with it taking into account recent escalation of war conflict in Avdeevka (so that the largest coke producer in Europe – Avdeevka Coke – is working with very low capacity during last days, which leads to significant decrease of Metinvest steel output), one can expect decline of production in February.

In Y2016 total steel output in Ukraine made 24.2 tons (+5.5% y-o-y).

As for pipes production dynamics, after some slowdown in December (65k tons of pipes produced), volume of output returned to the average monthly level of H2 2016 – in January it made 77k tons (+42% y-o-y).
