According to Ukrstat information in September 2017 Ukrainian companies produced 73.4k tons of poultry meat, output has been flat during last three months.
Industrial output of fresh poultry meat in September increased y-o-y by 3% (to 59k tons), while frozen chickens – fell by 16% to 14.4k tons.
In total in January-September 2017 Ukrainian enterprises produced 750k tons of poultry meat, +6% y-o-y. In volume terms growth made 44k tons, main driver of growth - export. In 9m 2017 export increased y-o-y by 34k tons up to 212k tons (close to 28% of total industrial poultry production).
We note that both production and export of chickens dynamics during last four months worsened vs. beginning of Y2017, while import started to grow. One of the reasons – seasonal factor (growth of production by households during summer, which means more supply on the market). Along with it, apart from MHP, other Ukrainian producers are rather slow to increase their export volumes (MHP share in total export now stands at about 85%).
Also important is the fact that during last months Ukrainian domestic poultry prices increased almost by 20% (which leads to higher import into Ukraine).
Main reason – decrease of sales volume in Q3 2017 by MHP (due to low finished production stock in the beginning of the quarter, as total MHP production in H1 2017 was higher than its sales volume).
As we reported earlier in Y2016 Ukrainian companies produced 991k tons of poultry meat (by 12% more than in Y2015), export made 240k tons, +49% vs. Y2015.
