According to customs statistics, sugar export from Ukraine in October’16 made about 61k tons, by more than 50% higher than in September. In money terms export made USD 31.5M.
In January-October total net export made close to 176k tons (vs. slightly more than 110k tons for the whole Y2015). Ukrainian sugar export operations surged as after UAH devaluation and world sugar prices growth, starting from August’15 world sugar price exceeded Ukrainian domestic price. Total export for new season is expected to reach 400-500k tons.
Main risk factor for Ukrainian sugar export at the moment is related to ports infrastructure. According to the information from ports currently first sizable (20-30k tons) sugar vessels are being loaded in Ukrainian ports by international sugar traders and basing on our sources loadings takes more time than it was initially expected.
By information of Ukrtsukor as of November 7 Ukrainian refineries produced 1.2M tons of sugar (8.17M tons of sugar beets has been processed). In current season total sugar production in Ukraine is expected to make 1.9-2.0M tons (vs. 1.46M tons in previous season).
