In August Ukrainian companies exported 12.4k tons of shell eggs, which is the highest value since the beginning of current year and has been by 30% higher than in July.
In August 2016 shell eggs export comprised 5.3k tons, so in last reporting month y-o-y growth was more than twofold.
In total in 8m 2017 Ukrainian companies exported 51.9k tons of shell eggs (USD 35.7M), while in the same period of Y2016 – 33.8k tons for USD 30M. Export dynamics since the beginning of Y2017 looked as follows:
One of main factors of export growth was re-opening of Iraq market for Ukrainian producers (during 2011-2015 years Iraq has been main importer of Ukrainian shell eggs). During July-August export to Iraq made USD 4.5M, as a result Iraq already became second largest Ukrainian shell eggs importer for the whole period of 8m2017 (leading importer – UAE with amount of export in money terms at USD 17.5M).
Eggs products export remains low – in latest reporting month it made just USD 452k (since the beginning of Y2017 – USD 4.5M).
Active export supports Ukrainian domestic shell eggs prices – during August they grew by 18% (in August 2016 – by 1.3%). So if current export dynamics will continue, taking into account seasonality of eggs production in Ukraine, we can expect significant growth of domestic prices in coming months.
