Ukrainian oilseeds export digest – February 2017

In February 2017 Ukraine exported 441k tons of sunflower oil, which is slightly below January volume (465k tons), but higher y-o-y (in February’16 it was below 400k tons). In money terms sunflower oil export made USD 334.7M, average export price – USD 758/t (which has been almost on January level).

Soybean oil export in February slightly increased vs. January and made 11.6k tons (USD 9M in money terms). Soybeans processing in Ukraine keeps stagnating, however soybeans export itself stays high. In February Ukrainian soybeans export made 334.8k tons (USD 128.5M, average export price – USD 384/t), which is much higher of both January export volume (237k tons) and soybeans export a year ago (just 150k tons).

Export of meals in February made 490.8k tons (USD 89M), which has been by 31k tons higher than in January. Sunflower meal takes main part of total meals export in current season.

As for total marketing year, it’s first half is now over (marketing year for oilseeds in Ukraine starts in September and finishes in August). Since the beginning of current season Ukrainian soybeans export made 1.9M tons (vs. 1.2M tons in corresponding period of previous season), sunflower oil export – 2.7M tons (2.2M tons a year ago).
