According to customs statistics in January-February 2017 Ukrainian poultry export made 31.7k tons (about USD 40M in money terms), which is by 45% higher y-o-y.
In February alone poultry export volume made 20.7k tons, which has been by almost two times higher vs. January and by 43% more than in February’16. Average export price made USD 1.3/kg vs. USD 1.18/kg in previous month (according to our estimations growth took place due to export into EU, where more expensive production is supplied).
Import of poultry in February made 9.1k tons (USD 3.6M in money terms, as before cheap foreign frozen production takes some share of Ukrainian producers on domestic market, average imported poultry price in February made USD 0.4/kg).
Export dynamics (in k tons) during last period of time looks as follows:
Despite negative effect of EU import ban for Ukrainian poultry production in January (due to bird flu cases in some regions of Ukraine, ban has been partially removed in the beginning of February), main destination for Ukrainian export in first two months of Y2017 has been Netherlands. In February Ukrainian enterprises (mainly MHP) exported into this country poultry production for USD 7.2M (out of total USD 26.7M).
As a reminder, in Y2016 Ukrainian poultry export made about 240k tons (vs. 161k tons in Y2015), which is USD 292.5M in money terms.
