According to Ministry of Agrarian Policy by August 14 Ukrainian farmers harvested 36M tons of grains from the area of 9.4M ha (97% of total for early grains). Average yield stands at 3.85t/ha (vs. 3.92t/ha in MY2016/17).
Farmers harvested winter wheat throughout 6.07M ha (98% of total area). Average yield made 4.15t/ha (4.26t/ha a year ago), total production volume - 25.3M tons. In addition, agrarians harvested 560k tons of spring wheat. Despite decrease of yield vs. previous year, we note that in current season Ukrainian wheat yields have been second largest for the total history of Ukraine.
As of reporting date agrarians completed harvesting of winter barley. Total harvested area stands at 887k ha, reporting yield – 3.66t/ha. Spring barley has been harvested from the area of almost 1.587M ha (98% of plan, current yield is 3.25t/ha). Average yield for barley made – 3.4t/ha (almost the same as in Y2016), total production – 8.3M tons.
Lastly, by August 14 Ukrainian farmers harvested close to 2.05M tons of winter rapeseeds (harvested area – 733k ha, reported yield – 2.8t/ha vs. 2.64t/ha in Y2016).
