Ukrainian farmers almost finished soybeans and sunflower seeds harvesting

14 November 2016

By November 11 Ukrainian farmers harvested more than 13.1M tons of sunflower seeds and more than 3.9M tons of soybeans.

Sunflower seeds have been harvested from 5.8M ha (98% of total) with average yield of 2.25t/ha. Current year’s harvest is new record for Ukraine (previous one was set in last year at 11.2M tons), main driving factor was increase of sown area vs. last season by more than 800k ha (or by 18%), yield also slightly exceeded record-high value of previous season (2.23 t/ha).

Soybeans have been harvested from 1.73M ha (almost 95% of planned area) with yield of 2.29 t/ha, which resulted in total harvest of 3.95M tons. In line with our previous estimations both yield and total harvest are already record-high for Ukraine.
