22 February 2017
According to Ukrstat information after decline in January by 11%, Ukrainian retail shell eggs prices further slumped by 21% in the first half of February.
As a result decline since the beginning of current year made 30%, so that prices almost reached the lowest level (in UAH) for the last two years:
Increase of eggs prices in autumn with further decline after New Year is usual seasonal trend for Ukraine and we do not expect that decline will continue in the coming weeks (as current price level does not provide for acceptable margins of some large producers, meanwhile no concerns for market leaders in terms of efficiency such as Ovostar, for which we just expect decline of profitability to Q2-Q3 2016 levels).
According to state statistics in January eggs production in Ukraine made 1.055 bln pieces (+0.4% y-o-y). Earlier we reported rather week figures for Ukrainian eggs export in January.
