Metinvest is gradually increasing production

In the second quarter of 2023, the Metinvest group increased the production of steel, iron ore, coke and coal.

Metinvest Group has published its operating report for the second quarter of 2023.

According to the report, the group's steel production during the quarter amounted to 541,000 tons (491,000 tons during the first quarter of 2023). Only the production volume at Kametstal was cpnsidered in the report, while the output at Zaporizhstal (Metinvest's share is 50%) is not included in the group data.

During the reporting quarter, Zaporizhstal smelted 625,000 tons of steel, which is 59% more than in the first quarter of 2023.

The production figures of both Kametstal and Zaporizhstal in the fourth quarter of 2022 and the first quarter of 2023 were significantly affected by power outages caused by Russian missile attacks on the Ukrainian energy infrastructure.

Compared to the second quarter of 2022, steel production at Metinvest (Kametstal) increased by 20%.

In the first half of 2023, steel production at Kametstal remained almost unchanged compared to the previous year (1 million tons), while smelting at Metinvest in general, due to the production at the Mariupol plants in January-February 2022, decreased by 57%.

Production of iron ore concentrate by the group in the reporting quarter amounted to 2.4 million tons, which is 6% more than in the previous quarter. Metinvest continues to focus on the production of concentrate and pellets with a high iron content.

The output of coal concentrate during the first quarter of 2023 amounted to 1,582 million tons, which was 8% higher than in the previous quarter.
