As of 9 March corn has been harvested from 96% of planned area, average yield in the current season made 6.7 t/ha.
Ukrainian farmers are finishing corn harvesting. As per Ministry of Agricuture data by 9 March harvested area made 4.045 mln ha (96% of planned area), total crop exceeded 27M tons, average yield – 6.68 t/ha.
Vs. previous year total harvested area decreased by 1.4 mln ha (-25%), average corn yield in Y2021 made 7.7 t/ha, total crop – record-high 42M tons (so in the current season total corn crop decreased by about 15 mln tons or by 36%).
By regions – the biggest corn producers in Ukraine – changes in harvested area and yields y-o-y looked as follows:

As one can see, the biggest decrease in sown and harvested area happened in Kharkiv, Sumy and Chernigiv regions (the reason is obvious – impact of russian invasion), also quite a significant reduction was in Poltava area.
Among the leaders by yield are Ternopil (9.3 t/ha), Khmelnytskiy (8.6 t/ha) and Poltava (8.6 t/ha) regions. Comparing to previous year the biggest decrease in yield was in Vinnitsya, Khmelnytsky and Kyiv regions. In Poltava and Sumy regions yields increased.
