In August, Ukrainian metallurgical enterprises produced 533,000 tons of pig iron and 602,000 tons of steel.

According to preliminary information from the Ukrmetalurgprom association, in August Ukrainian steel mills produced 602,000 tons of steel, which is almost equal to the figure of the previous month (and also 71% more y-o-y).

The total output at the facilities located in the unoccupied territories (not including the plants in the occupied Mariupol) is still 40-45% lower vs. output before the full-scale invasion.

Pig iron production in August also remained almost unchanged compared to the previous month and amounted to 533,000 tons.

In total, in the first eight months of 2023, Ukrainian steel mills produced 3.9 million tons of pig iron (-24% y-o-y, due to the high level of production before the full-scale invasion - in January and February 2022), and 4.0 million tons of steel (-22% y-o-y).
