During the first four months of the season Ukrainian companies exported 9.1 million tons of grains.
According to preliminary data from the Ministry of Agriculture, in October 2023 Ukrainian companies exported almost 2.5 million tons of grain crops, 400,000 tons more than in September (due to the gradual recovery of exports from deep-sea Black Sea ports) and 45% less than in October 2022.
In the reporting month, 1.3 million tons of wheat, 1.1 million tons of corn, and 60 thousand tons of barley were exported.
Ukrainian grain exports remain at a relatively low level. The main reasons are that exports through deep-sea ports have only just begun to recover, at the same time due to a significant decrease in world grain prices, the sale of grain at current prices is unprofitable for Ukrainian farmers, so they are trying to postpone crop sales.
In total, since July 2023, Ukraine has exported 9.1 million tons of grain (13.2 million tons in July-October 2022).
According to our estimates, in case of more or less stable export of grains through deep sea ports, in the current season Ukraine can export 15 million tons of wheat (17 million tons in the 2022/23 season) and 25 million tons of corn (29 million tons).
