In the first quarter of 2024, Ukrainian exports of chocolate significantly exceeded imports in physical terms, but were almost equal to imports in monetary terms.
In the reporting period, Ukrainian chocolate exports amounted to 14.5 thousand tons worth $55 million. For comparison, in the corresponding period of 2023, the export figure was 11.5 thousand tons worth $37 million.
As for the import of chocolate, during January-March 2024, it amounted to 8.9 thousand tons worth $53 million (for the corresponding period in 2023 - 8.7 thousand tons worth $42 million).
We note a rather significant increase in chocolate prices (both in Ukraine and in other countries), the reason for which was a significant increase in global prices for cocoa beans.
As a reminder, in 2023, Ukrainian chocolate exports amounted to 53.4 thousand tons with a total value of $191 million, imports - 31 thousand tons for $166 million.
