Ukrainian crops plantation campaign is progressing

As of May 11 spring crops – corn, sunseeds, soybeans - sown area was more than half of last year's.

After a rainy April, with the improvement of weather conditions in May, the pace of sowing has accelerated significantly and is currently close to the maximum.

According to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy, during the week from May 5 to 11, Ukrainian farmers sowed more than 3 million hectares of grain and oil crops.

So as of May 11, almost 2.3 million hectares of corn have already been sown in Ukraine, which is 54% of last year's sown area (4.2 million hectares). In addition up to reporting date Ukrainian farmers have sown 2.7 million hectares of sunflower (54% of last year's total, which was 4.9 million hectares), 750 thousand hectares of soybeans (49% and 1.5 million hectares, respectively).

We should also note that as of the reporting date, sugar beet was sown on an area of 205,000 hectares, which is more than the total area last year (180,000 hectares).
