In March Ukrainian iron ore exports have been the highest since the beginning of Russian invasion into Ukraine.
According to customs statistics, in March 2024, the export of Ukrainian iron ore amounted to 3.34 million tons, which was the highest volume since the beginning of Russian full-scale invasion into Ukraine in February 2022.
For comparison, in January 2024 Ukrainian iron ore exports made 3.1 million tons, in February - 2.5 million tons.
Significant growth of iron ore exports from Ukraine was possible after re-opening of ore exports through Ukrainian deep sea ports in November 2023.
In total in Q1 2024 Ukraine exported 9 million tons of iron ore for $863 million (vs. 3.66 million tons for $404 million in Q1 2023).
If to compare with the exports volumes till full-scale invasion, in January 2022 it made 3.85 million tons, so the current volume is not much lower than pre-invasion level.
In 2023, Ukraine exported 17.8 million tons of iron ore worth $1.8 billion.
In 2022, exports amounted to 24 million tons with the total value of $2.9 billion, in 2021 - 44 million tons for $6.9 billion.
