Ukrainian sugar exports in February amounted to almost 75,000 tons, in total since the beginning of the 2023/24 season - 350,000 tons.
According to preliminary data from customs statistics, Ukrainian sugar exports in February 2024 amounted to 75,000 tons, compared to 56,000 tons in January and an average of 70,000 tons since the beginning of the 2023/24 marketing year (October 2023).
For the first five months of the 2023/24 season, exports amounted to 350,000 tons, compared to 214,000 tons in the corresponding period of the previous marketing year.
As a reminder in the calendar year of 2023 sugar exports from Ukraine totaled 506,000 tons with a value of $390 million. The largest volumes of sugar exports in Ukrainian history were in 2017-18, in each of which almost 600,000 tons of the product were exported.
Taking into account that in 2023, Ukraine produced about 1.8 million tons of sugar, with domestic consumption of 1 million tons, in the current season the country can break previous record and export 700-800 thousand tons.
On the other hand, after the start of the full-scale Russian invasion, Ukraine exports sugar practically only to EU countries, while according to available information, in 2024, exports from Ukraine to the EU will be limited to 320,000 tons.
