In April, Ukraine exported 100,000 tons of sugar

Since the beginning of the 2023/24 season, Ukrainian sugar exports amounted to 530,000 tons, which is 70% higher than last year's figure.

According to preliminary data of customs statistics, Ukrainian sugar exports in April 2024 amounted to 100,000 tons, which is the largest monthly export figure in recent years (for comparison, in March, Ukraine exported 81,000 tons of sugar, while a year ago - in April 2023 - 46,000 . tone).

In the first seven months of the 2023/24 season, Ukrainian sugar exports amounted to 530,000 tons, compared to 308,000 tons in the corresponding period of the previous marketing year.

The main part of Ukrainian sugar still continues to be exported to EU countries - in April, primarily to Bulgaria and Hungary.

It is expected that in the coming months, Ukrainian sugar exports to the EU will significantly decrease, while Ukrainian companies will continue to export sugar to African and Asian countries.

According to the current estimates, the total export of sugar from Ukraine in the 2023/24 season will amount to 700-800 thousand tons (in the 2022/23 season - 427 thousand tons, so currently the export volume for the first seven months of MY2023/24 already significantly exceeds the figure for the whole previous season).

The main exporters of Ukrainian sugar are the three leading producers - Radekhiv-Tsukor, Ukrprominvest-Agro and Astarta. Currently, the share of the TOP-3 in total exports can be estimated at more than 75%.

The largest Ukrainian exporter is Radekhiv-Sukor (in 2023, this company was also the largest Ukrainian sugar producer).
